The Dalmatian
With its white fur and exceptional dark spots,
the Dalmatian is one of the most elegant and eye-catching dogs.
They are very active and intelligent, with a enormous
adaptability and a great power of endurance. They are very
social to other dogs, a bit pigheaded and very fund of
humans.
It is a dog that needs a lot of exercise. A view
small walks during the day are absolutely not enough to keep a
Dalmatian happy and in good physical shape. If you live in the
city we only will recommend this breed if you are able to give
the dog enough exercise, or have the opportunity to take him by
car to parks, beaches or forests. Dalmatians also love to walk
next to your bicycle. We our self love to go for long walks in
forests or on the beaches and dunes.
Humans are Dalmatians best friends. We often say to each other
that they probably even think they are human. They love to be
surrounded by lots of people and are always pleased when you'll
have visitors, although they will probably bark a bit at their
entrance. Watch the snacks you serve on low tables, because
Dalmatians are obsessed by food.
The Dalmatian dog is very friendly to children, but they
sometimes can be a little rough. So always be alert if you let
them play with very small children. Despite the Dalmatian love
to be in company of people its possible to let them get used to
be left alone for a view hours a day.
Training and sports
The Dalmatian can be an excellent dog for
training. They are more then average intelligent and have the
ability to learn quickly. Both fine quality's for
disciplines like obedience. Their athletic capabilities will
come to justice at Flyball or Agility. Especially in Agility the
Dalmatian often a good competitor.
Because of their good and friendly character and their
adaptability the Dalmatian dog is worldwide used as a therapy
dog in hospitals and in homes for the aged.
As you can see the Dalmatian is a very all round dog!
